Who are we?

the characteristic shape of the cave’s entrance.

Baume des Anges takes its origin in a cave suspended above the Rhône, on a cliff face overlooking the vast land of Les Roches, in Provence, south of Châteauneuf du Rhône.

Lavender, wild thyme, rosemary, juniper and more than one hundred plant species grow here.

This is where the Baume des Anges farm business was started in 2002 and where our aroma cellar is installed. All the essences are extracted in the Drôme (except for bergamot, which is grown and extracted in Calabria) from plants grown primarily in Provence - Drôme, Ardèche, Vaucluse and Gard. Some plants are cultivated in the tropics by selected partners.

For Baume des Anges, a plant’s flavour tells its journey, from land to table. This belief guides our choices so as to produce plant extracts with genuine, intense flavours, even better than fresh plants according to great starred chefs.

Laurent Dreyfus-Schmidt, an agricultural engineer and the founder of Baume des Anges, applies stringent requirements at every stage of the process. Thanks to these high standards of excellence, he has been working with over one hundred starred chefs for several years. Concerning Baume des Anges standards, see Better than fresh.
